Dear Friends from the Transfusion Medicine Community,

I pray this finds you in good health and well-being.

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all to the 9th TRANSMEDCON 2021 which is the 1st ever Virtual Conference of the Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine scheduled to be hosted on an immersive, engaging & user friendly virtual platform between 17th & 18th December 2021. As you are all aware this conference has taken shape in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. The tremendous challenges faced in Blood Banking in the last two years has been a learning curve for all of us and I am sure we have all gained in experience and resilience. With a physical Conference not being possible, the Organising Committee of this virtual edition promises you an enriching experience nevertheless, with the hub being in the picturesque city of Guwahati.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Pushing the frontiers in Transfusion Medicine’ This is the first time that TRANSMEDCON, the annual Conference of the Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine, is being held in North-East India. It is a matter of privilege for me and my fellow Committee members to organise this event, and I sincerely believe that the one and half day event will be a pleasant break from your busy schedules.

I take this opportunity to thank the Organising Committee and MCI GeTS India, our Conference Manager, for putting together this Virtual Conference at such a short notice. Also, I thank the Central Committee, Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine for their valuable help and guidance in organising this historic conference, virtually.
